7inch september listings

September 5, 2008

hello,
I remember someone saying that the start of the academic year
was the best time for new resolutions, and we are springing into
the autumn with high hopes and blank canvases (or is that blank
expressions?). And plenty of gigs as usual.

7INCH NEWS
A couple of weeks ago we went up to Nairn for the delightful
Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams; a writeup can be found on
the 7inch site. On returning we vacated our attic office and shunted
everything into a new office at the Custard Factory; please note the
new address at the end of this mail, and the blood blister on the
end of my finger caused by incompetent shelf construction. Now
we are limbering up for Flatpack III, which hits Birmingham in
mid-March 2009. But before then…

Saturday 6 September, 7pm at Ikon Eastside in Digbeth

INDIVIDUAL HAPPINESS NOW
Having wanted to do a Len Lye event for donkeys years, all our
Christmasses come at once this Saturday. A host of 16mm treats
including Lye’s first film Tusalava with a new score by jazz pianist
Alcyona, and a talk by Tyler Cann, Curator of the Len Lye Collection
in New Plymouth. This man has come all the way from New Zealand,
and he knows his stuff. If you’ve only seen Len Lye’s films on youtube
you haven’t seen them! And this is free too. Worth booking, it may
well fill up: 0121 248 0708
With support from Creative New Zealand.

  1. […] 7inch september listings A nice big long list of events for September, lots of filmic stuff and some other things too. Plus a call for someone with money to burn to convert Kings Heath’s recently closed bingo hall back into a cinema… anyone? […]
